Salomon Wine Dinner at D’sens

Pam Thien for "What in Dining"
February 01, 2011

Salomon Grüner VeltlinerIn a heartbeat, Bangkok has grown from a melting pot of culinary talents to the hub of fine dining and wine finding.  When it comes to French cuisine, among the leading names you'll hear in this city is D'Sens at Dusit Thani Bangkok.

After undergoing some meticulous refurbishment, D'Sens is re-opening on Tuesday February 8, 2011.  To celebrate, the restaurant is hosting an exclusive event, The Salomon Wine Dinner.

Founded in 1792, Salomon Undhof of Austria is famous for its Riesling.  Wine-making remains a family affair, and is now headed by seventh-generation caretakers, Bert and Gertrud Salomon.  In 1995, South Australia, Dr. Bert Salomon and his wife founded Salomon Estate around the Finniss River, producing some of the finest Shiraz, Cabernet, and Merlot.

The exclusive dinner will feature Salomon’s Austrian signature white wines: Rieslings and Grüner Veltliner, and also two of Salomon’s South Australian red wines, produced in the tradition of the noble Northern Rhône appellation Côte Rôtie.

The Salomons will be present for the 5-course dinner.  This event will reveal a Wine-by-the-Glass list featuring hand-crafted boutique wines from "fin - fabulous is needed."  Fin is a luxury lifestyle wine and event company that also distributes the Salomon's famous wines to the Thai market.  Adding to the list is a series of new cocktails to compliment a tapas and hors d'oeuvres menu created by Master Chef Julien Lavigne.

For wine connoisseurs, this dinner is a must.

The price for 5 course set dinner with 6 fabulous Salomon wines is Baht 3,500 net/person.
