The Bangkok International Couture Fashion Week

Pam Thien for "Who in Events"
September 18, 2011

From street fashion to high fashion, Bangkok has been at the hub of style in Asia for decades. Celebrating Thailand's first couture-exclusive fashion event is the Bangkok International Couture Fashion Week (BICFW 2011), taking place October 7-8, 2011.

The event centers around 5 of the country's most notable couturiers -- Kai Boutique, Pichita, Flynow, Theatre, and K and I -- (some of whom are in Paris and Milan as we speak).

Guests arrive at the Sheraton Royal Orchid for a brief cocktail and reception before they are catered down The River of Kings, Maenam Chao Phraya, to Bangkok's most scenic waterfront residences--The River by Raimon Land.

There, Royal Cuisines by the Blue Elephant Catering await inside a 1000-square meter, climate-controlled space. Siam Winery will provide drinks. When the fashion shows start,
guests are seated on custom couture chairs courtesy of Theatre (à la Dior Couture).

The first night, Kai Boutique will open the show with a theme in white, followed fashionably by Theatre with a clever Men's Couture collection. The second night will feature K and I's creative chic wear, Pichita's timeless play of textiles, and will end with Flynow in the brand's true couture form.

Parts of the fashion week will also be available for viewing post-event at the Interchange Tower's Citibank LED displays.

Tickets for the two-night runway experience are completely free of charge, but there's a catch; you have to be invited.

For your chance to attend, stay tuned to the W5 Facebook page for details.
